Surnames Takagi or Takaki; Kô or Takaki (1822); Toyokawa; pupil of Ashikuni; possibly the son of a late-eighteenth century poet named Hakuensai Baikô, owner of the publishing shop Shioya Saburobei; a poet in his own right, possibly beginning his career as early as 1800 with a poetry anthology, and after apparently giving up print design around 1832, continuing as the leader of the Jukôsha-ren or Jukôdo poetry group, some of whose members also designed prints; listed as an actor portraitist on the single-sheet broadside (Naniwa shoryû gajin meika annai ("Guide to the many famous contemporary artists of Osaka") circa 1831, where he is identified as Kôjôdô Ashimaru and his Osaka address as Bakuromachi; not to be confused with a later Kyoto landscape artist also signing as Yoshikuni (1856-1904).

Designed some of the best Osaka prints of the 1820s.
